November — Upper Shillong
The whole city goes pink. Cherry blossoms, and a handful of places on earth do this properly. Shillong is one. Book it early; it's the month everyone wants once they know.
December to February — Lakeside
The migratory birds arrive on Rudrasagar. The lake at 05:48 hasn't decided what colour it is; by seven the birds have. The palace in winter light from the pool is the picture people come for.
